Miami Canal Number C-6 - Miami-Dade, FL Lake Report on 23rd Sep, 2026

Peacock Bass fishing throughout the Miami canal systems has been producing some very good action as we transition from late summer into early fall.

Recent trips have been seeing consistent numbers of Peacock Bass, with fish ranging from smaller aggressive fish up to solid 3-pound-class Peacocks and occasional opportunities at noticeably larger fish. The overall bite has been steady, with some days requiring a little more patience and adjustment than others.

Water temperatures have generally been running in the mid-to-upper 80s, with slightly stained water conditions in many areas. We are continuing to see a mixture of spawning and post-spawn behavior, which has fish using a variety of depths and structure throughout the day.

Some fish have been holding shallow enough to sight fish, while others have been relating to deeper canal drops, edges, and hard structure. Being willing to move between shallow and deeper water has been important, especially as conditions change throughout the morning.

Live bait continues to be very productive for clients, particularly when presented around areas holding active fish. The biggest key lately has been paying attention to where the fish are positioned rather than assuming they will stay shallow all day.

This is also a great time of year for anglers who have never caught a Peacock Bass before. These fish are aggressive, colorful, and fight extremely hard for their size, making them one of South Florida’s most exciting freshwater species.

As we move deeper into fall, I’ll continue watching water temperatures, weather patterns, and fish behavior to see how the Miami Peacock Bass bite develops.
