This week on the Miami canals, Bassin' With Capt. Lou hosted a fantastic father and son team, Bill and Cooper. It was a productive day on the water as the duo stayed focused and figured out the local peacock bass patterns. Their hard work paid off with a high volume of catches, proving that persistence is key when targeting these colorful Florida fighters.

The Gear & The Catch
Cooper showed off his angling skills using the Dobyns Sierra 703 outfit. This setup proved to be the perfect match for the aggressive Miami peacock bite, providing the right amount of power to handle the fish without a single issue. Seeing a young angler handle high-quality gear with such precision was a highlight of the trip.

Yesterday’s 4-hour Miami peacock bass trip was an awesome start to the year. I had Jon and his two sons on board, and we enjoyed a beautiful Miami day with great conditions in the canals.

We used live bait to keep bites coming and give the kids the best chance at consistent action. The boys did a great job staying focused, following instructions, and setting the hook — we wrapped up the trip with 16 peacock bass landed.

The Everglades near Fort Lauderdale continue to deliver solid fishing action this season. Several largemouth and peacock bass were caught, that were over 5lbs! 🤯 These fish were caught all on artificial lures primarily on top! This made for some spectacular top water blow ups! I would like to pass along some public safety announcements as well. Due to drought conditions. Several areas can be very hazardous. Especially around ramp areas, and canal corners. Due to prop wash and drought. Many boat ramps are very bad condition and launching can become very challenging. Points along canal corners are very shallow right now. <div>Phenomenal Everglades outing yesterday with Greg, and his 2 sons, Wes and Griff. These gentlemen are visiting from Georgia, and have never fished the Everglades, and the kids have never fished out of bass boat before.&nbsp;</div><div>The family took on the artificial challenge! Warmer water temps are waking up the peacock! 

Another fun largemouth bass fishing trip  in the Everglades today out of Fort Lauderdale.  Conditions are beginning to improve. Water temperatures are heating up, and water levels continue to come down.  An assortment of artificial lures boated over 40 largemouth bass! 

Light spinning and medium baitcasting gear got the job done today! 

Fished FEB-1 in the Everglades, out of the Bass Hunter boat today!  Very fun outing! The outing started off slow. I'm sure the blue bird skies and lack of wind contributed to the slower bite.  As the outing wore on, the clouds and breeze picked up. The afternoon bite REALLY picked up. Ended up boating 35 largemouth, several in the 3 lb class.  It was mainly a swimbait bite!

A casual cruise appreciating the wildlife the Everglades has to offer minutes from Ft. Lauderdale.  For wildlife enthusiasts, observing alligators in their natural habitat is a must see!! 

Went a little off grid in the Everglades yesterday. Beautiful sunny day in the forecast, but windy. Winds were from the SE gusting at around 17-20 mph. In the past this would have made fishing a little challenging with my previous trolling motor, but with my new Power Pole Move, the spot lock feature was unbelievable! The boat held in place beautifully. Although we boated 26 largemouth bass, the bass fishing trip was pretty technical. The largemouth were very specific with how they wanted the bait(s) presented. Made for fun trip if you enjoy fishing puzzles! Lol! 

Combination of Medium Heavy  powered bait casters, and Medium spinning gear was the name of the game!
